Tips for skippers

Every summer since 2011, a group of young childhood cancer survivors from the Children’s Cancer Foundation, take sailing courses sponsored by the Hebe Haven Yacht Club.  To celebrate their achievements, there will be a dinghy race then a Hog Roast at the VRC Saikung at sundown on 9th October 2016.

This event is sponsored by VRC, HHYC and COA and we hope you will support us by buying tickets and bringing your families and friends to join us.  The young survivors and their parents will be our guests and any proceeds we make will be donated to the CCF ( https://www.ccf.org.hk ), for their work helping children and their families struggling with Cancer.

You are invited to bring your boat and anchor overnight at the VRC Saikung free of charge.  There will be a sampan service from 16.00-22.00 and you can use all the VRC facilities; beach, swimming pontoon, campsite, showers and also the restaurant for breakfast the next morning.

The Emerald Bay dinghy race will start at 14.00 from HHYC to VRC, which the kids will join.  This race is also open to qualified dinghy sailors and dinghies can be hired from HHYC.  For yachts and motorboats there will be a flotilla cruise from HHYC to VRC to follow the race.

We are appealing to yacht owners to allow guests on their boats, so that the kids' parents and other members joining the party can follow the dinghy race.  If you can help us please email secretary@coahk.org advising how many guests you can take.  If you have anything you would like to donate to the raffle (no alcohol please) please bring them along to the party with you.  Also please let us know if you have a tent you can lend the kids from CCF.
