The COA Macau Rally returns in 2026 from 19–21 June, taking place over the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. One of the highlights of the mid-year sailing calendar, this offshore rally between Hong Kong and Macau has been a beloved tradition since 1997 and remains proudly organized by COA in Hong Kong.
Blending competitive sailing with a social getaway, the rally offers participants a memorable passage across the Pearl River Delta, a relaxing stopover in Macau, and a spirited race back home. Over the years it has become a favourite among local sailors, combining tactical racing, camaraderie, and the chance to experience Macau’s vibrant atmosphere.

Date: 19 - 21 June (Fri - Sun)
Entry Deadline: 5 June 2025
Event Schedule
Race to Macau – Day 1 (Friday, 19 June)
The rally begins with the race from Hong Kong to Macau. Boats will start in the morning from an area northwest of Lamma Island, before heading westward through the southern waters of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region toward Macau.
This opening leg provides an exciting offshore challenge as competitors navigate busy shipping lanes and shifting coastal winds on their way to the finish in Macau.
Lay Day in Macau – Day 2 (Saturday, 20 June)
After the first leg, crews will enjoy a lay day in Macau.
This day offers the perfect opportunity to relax, explore the city, and spend time with fellow sailors. Participants can experience Macau’s unique blend of Portuguese heritage and Chinese culture, from its historic streets and landmarks to its renowned cuisine.
Race Back to Hong Kong – Day 3 (Sunday, 21 June)
The rally concludes with the return race from Macau to Hong Kong.
Competitors will once again take to the water for the final leg of the event, sailing eastward across the Pearl River Delta and back toward Hong Kong waters. The return passage promises another tactical challenge as crews make the most of the prevailing winds and changing conditions.
Weather Expectations
June typically brings warm summer conditions with southwesterly winds, which often provide excellent sailing for the crossing between Hong Kong and Macau. Crews should prepare for warm temperatures and variable sea breezes typical of the early summer season.
With competitive racing, a vibrant stopover in Macau, and the chance to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival on the water, the 2026 COA Macau Rally promises another memorable edition for sailors and spectators alike.
