This perpetual Trophy is awarded every year to the overall winner under the HKPN handicap system of the combined three or four Hong Kong-Macau-Hong Kong races, also known as the "Macau Races", organized by the COA every year, starting with the Chinese New Year Race.

The first Macau Race Trophy season will start with the 2012 Chinese New Year Macau Race end of January 2012.
