COA Championship Series
The COA Championship Series is open to COA members only and is decided from the results obtained by eligible boats competing in a selection of races throughout the racing year. The COA are looking at streamlining the series for 2009/10 but for the 2008/9 racing season the following events comprise the COA Championship Series:
- Overall results from each COA Macau Race weekend.
- Overall results from the RHKYC Macau Race weekend.
- The COA Bole Trophy (HKPN Division of the RHKYC Pedro Blanco Race).
- The ABC Opening Regatta.
- The RHKYC Autumn, Spring and China Coast Regatta’s.
- The HHYC Port Shelter Regatta.
- The RHKYC Round the Island Race.
- The ABC Waglan Series.
- The HHYC Typhoon Series.
- The RHKYC Coastal Race.
- TheABC Coastal Race.
There is an IRC division and an HKPN division. Boats with IRC ratings are entered for the IRC division and those with only an HKPN are entered into the HKPN division.
Scoring is based on the Cox-Sprague (1994 modified) scoring system with a default minimum of eight starters in any race using the placing results published by the organizing authority for each race. Where Regatta’s are included the overall results for the Regatta are used as a single result per boat.
Points are weighted according to the type of event. Macau races have a weighting of 1.5, Regatta’s 1.25 and individual races have a weighting of 0.75.
