Greetings and welcome to the COA website. It is an honor to have been elected Chairman of the COA and I would like to thank Wayne Robinson for all he has done for the COA over the past 3 years as Chairman. There were some changes to the Council at the last AGM and we welcome Micah Zimmerman as Vice Chairman, Christopher Wong as Treasurer and new members Ben Chong, who is the new Cruising Chairman, and Martin Wong. Mark Houghton, Marcel Liedts and Mervyn Wilson continue to be the HHYC, RHKYC and ABC representatives respectively on the Council. We also welcome Jackie Vachha as the new Secretary General of the organization. The COA has about 200 members and is an umbrella organization representing the interests of cruising sailors in Hong Kong. Founded over 50 years ago, the COA is probably best known for the 3 Macau Races it organizes each year, with the support of Club Nautico de Macau, and the Five Pubs Race - not to be confused with the ABC's Four Peaks Race! In addition to these events, the COA organizes an annual raft up at Clearwater Bay Marina. The COA also supports cruiser racing at events organized by the major yacht clubs in Hong Kong. I hope to see as many of you as possible on the water this year and if you have any suggestions for other events you believe the COA should organize, please feel free to contact any of the Council members or the Secretary General.
