The Sports Boat Rule has been specially developed by the RORC and the RYA to suit small to medium sized, light displacement, racing keelboats, which  have an LOA of no less than 5.5m and no more than 10.0m. 

Sportsboats can also obtain IRC ratings but these do not produce optimum results for this type of boat. SBR is not compatible with IRC and is a completely separate rule. The algorithms used and the measurements taken have been specifically designed for sportsboats and the corrected time produced for a boat using its SBR time corrector (TCS) will be completely different to that produced using its IRC time corrector (TCC).
